November 20, 2011. Human beings are constructors. We have survived and developed through the use of tools and machines. So it will be difficult to understand our own brain from another perspective. We would like to understand our brain as a machine with functionally separate parts, or as a computer program with neatly defined functions that are executed in a predetermined order. Not like a lump of fat that shots itself with electrochemical impulses in complex and seemingly random patterns and where somehow something so intangible as a conciousness has emerged.
